Miners open second half of season against division rival Aggies
El PASO -- After a month away from the ice, the Miners are ready to pick up where they left off, vying for the top spot in TCHC. “Looking forward to getting back and playing games. It’s been a long break, but the club is ready to go and enthusiastic to start back up,” Coach Herman said. “We are expecting a very physical style series. Should be lots of fun.”
Following four consecutive wins at home against Dallas Baptist and East Texas Baptist, the Miners will host the Texas A&M Aggies, Jan. 7-8 at the El Paso County Events Center. The red-hot Miners scored 35 goals in the last four games, including a 10-0 shutout in game two against the East Texas Baptist Tigers. “With the limited amount of time we have had on the ice, practices have been going good,” Coach Herman said. “Everyone is getting back on the same page and back into the groove of everything.”
Miners vs Aggies
The last time the Miners met with the Aggies they split the two-game series with a 4-3 overtime win in game one and a 4-2 loss in game two. “When we played the Aggies at the start of the season, we were still looking for our team’s identity,” Coach Herman said. “I think we have grown as a team offensively and defensively. We look to continue to progress as the season goes.”
