El PASO – The holiday break is over and the Miners are back in action at home. The final home stand of 2018 kicks off Friday morning at 11 a.m. against the Dallas Baptist Patriots. Game two is slated for Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm. Miners will host a blanket drive Saturday, Dec. 1. All blankets collected will benefit the local El Paso community.
Miners vs Patriots
This will be the first and only meeting between the Miners and Patriots during the regular season. Miners remain victorious against the Patriots with wins in the last four meetings both at home and on the road for an overall record 4-0. Last season the Miners swept the Patriots on the road with a 5-2 win in game one followed by a 4-3 overtime win in game two.
Scouting the Patriots
The Patriots are currently 12-2 on the season. Dallas Baptist played North Texas prior to the holiday break and swept the Mean Green with a 22-0 shutout in game one and a 24-0 shutout in game two. The Patriots currently lead the the Northern Division of TCHC. Cooper Cothran has logged 821 minutes for the Patriots, he has allowed 45 goals this season, 3.29 per game and has a save percentage of .894. Defenseman Trenton Lee returns for Dallas Baptist, currently he leads the Patriots with 49 points (20-29=49). Forward Spence Cowand who leads the Patriots with 22 goals so far this season.
