The UTEP Miners were looking to bounce back after their split from A&M last week as they hosted Texas Tech.
Saturdays contest saw the Miners come out with an offensive explosion in the first period. The Miners put up 7 goals in the first period alone going up 7-1. Not changing their game, the Miners kept the course and would add to their lead in the second period going up 11-1. The 3rd period saw the Miners ice the Red Raiders by adding two more to their lead and win 13-1.
Leading the team in the game, Jeramy Rezaeepour had 2 goals and 3 assists, Nicholas Howell scored a hat trick and added a helper, and Parker Levitt also scored 2 goals.
Sunday morning's game started off a bit different. Tech opened the scoring to go up 1-0. However, the Miners would answer back with 3 straight goals before the Red Raiders would score their second of the day to end the first period 3-2. The Miners would come out a lot stronger in the second period and score 5 unanswered goals to go up 8-2 after the second. UTEP would turn it up a notch in the 3rd period as they would score 6 to end the game winning 14-2.
Angel Sanca would get his first 2 goals as a Miner and Jake Colclasure scored his first. Jeramy Rezaeepour continued his hot streak scoring 3 goals and adding 2 assists and Brett Bloor would also score a hat trick and add an assist.
Next up for the Miners is Texas State as they host the Bobcats Saturday, January 21st at 3:30pm and Sunday, January 22nd at 11:00am.
