Miner Captain Jan Dám will return to UTEP for his sophomore year. Serving as the first team captain in Miners Hockey history, Dám proved to be the right choice for the job. The defenseman enjoyed a strong first season at UTEP finishing with 28 points (8G, 20A) in 24 games which led all defenseman during the regular season.
It is safe to say that Dám will help the Miners in their quest to win the inaugural Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference championship title. "I have been lucky to be part of the El Paso Hockey Association for the last 4 years and now seeing a packed stadium for the Miners makes me really proud. I'm looking forward to seeing the fans pack the stadium this season when we play the new teams in our division." said Dám.
Coach Herman commented on Dám’s first season, “Jan was a huge part of the club’s success this past season. Not only is he the team captain, but he is also the club president. His leadership on and off the ice has been incredible. He’s been a cornerstone of the club’s foundation since day one. He will once again be looked at for his leadership and talent on the ice as we begin the next chapter of Miners Hockey.”
Off the ice, Dám continues to work towards a degree in Kinesiology.
