The Miners did NOT disappoint in their historical first home game beating Texas Tech 8-3.
The Miners stepped on the ice for the first time in El Paso and were greeted to a near capacity crowd Friday night. The atmosphere was amazing from the first drop of the puck.
The Miners were looking to carry their momentum of winning 3 straight games on the road and they did not disappoint their home town fans. Jeramy Rezaeepour scored the first goal of the game. It proved to be the only goal of the first period as the Miners led 1-0.
Texas Tech would respond right away in the second period to tie up the game 1-1 less than a minute in. Less than a minute later, Lukas Znosko would put the Miners back in the lead 2-1. After several minutes of back and forth action, the Red Raiders would once again tie the game 2-2. However, the Miners quick attack responded swiftly after once again as Anthony Regnier found the back of the net before the middle of the second frame. The second period would end 3-2 Miners.
The Miners came out flying in the third period and turned on the pressure. They scored four straight goals to take a 7-2 lead before Tech would answer with their third goal with less than four minutes to play. Znosko would seal the win with seconds later as the Miners would win 8-3.
