Hockey returns to the Sun City for Stick it to Cancer Weekend
El PASO -- It’s been almost a month since the Miners last took the ice at the El Paso County Events Center. During that time the Miners swept both the University of Texas and Texas A&M on the road improving to 6-0 overall. UTEP is currently in first place in TCHC and remains one of two teams who are still undefeated this season.
This weekend the Miners will pink out the rink for Stick it to Cancer weekend as they host the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs for a two-game series that kicks off Friday night at 10:30 pm. Game two will be played on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
The undefeated Miners swept division rival, Texas A&M Aggies, 3-2 in game one and 2-1 in game two. Newcomers Donald Alchin and Scott Kasaboski both had stand out games on the road against the Aggies. Freshman netminder Scott Kasaboski made 55 saves allowing only three goals. While Forward Donald Alchin scored two goals in game one. “The addition of Kasaboski and Alchin have worked out well so far. Both buying in and competing come games and practices,” said Coach Herman.
